FAQs

How long will it take to complete a commercial project?

Project timelines vary depending on the size, scope, access requirements, surface conditions, and specification of each job. Smaller commercial projects may be completed in a matter of days, while larger or more complex projects can take several weeks.

At JMA Group Services, we plan each project carefully, assessing preparation requirements, coating systems, site access, and operational constraints upfront. We then provide a realistic project programme and work efficiently to meet agreed timeframes while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Where required, we can stage works or work around building operations to minimise disruption and keep your project running smoothly. Once assessed, we’ll clearly communicate expected durations and keep you informed throughout the project.

How long does a commercial paint job last?

A commercial paint job can last 5–15 years, depending on several factors including the quality of surface preparation, the paint or coating system used, environmental exposure, and ongoing maintenance.

Interior commercial spaces with controlled environments typically last longer, while exterior surfaces exposed to sun, weather, and wear may require repainting sooner. High‑traffic areas and industrial environments can also affect lifespan.

At JMA Group Services, we focus on thorough preparation, premium‑quality products, and correct application to maximise durability. We also offer programmed maintenance solutions to help extend the life of coatings and maintain a professional appearance over time.

For an accurate expectation, we assess each site and recommend coating systems best suited to the environment, usage, and performance requirements.

What paint products do you use?

JMA Group Services uses high‑quality, reputable paint and coating products from trusted manufacturers, selected to suit the specific requirements of each project. Product selection is based on surface type, environment, performance needs, and specification, ensuring durability, compliance, and a quality finish.

We regularly work with premium commercial, industrial, and fire‑rated coating systems and are experienced in applying architect‑ or engineer‑specified products. If a client has a preferred paint brand or nominated product, we are more than happy to use it, provided it is suitable for the application and meets project requirements.

Where possible, we also recommend low‑VOC and environmentally responsible products to support healthier environments and sustainability goals. All products are applied strictly in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and relevant standards.

What is involved each time a planned maintenance service is carried out?

Each planned maintenance visit is structured to ensure assets are inspected, protected, and maintained consistently. The scope of work is tailored to the agreed maintenance programme, but typically includes an inspection of surfaces to identify wear, damage, or early signs of deterioration.

Required tasks are then carried out, which may include cleaning, touch‑up painting, surface repairs, pressure washing, or recoating of high‑wear areas. All work is completed using approved materials and methods to maintain appearance, performance, and compliance.

Following each service, issues requiring future attention are noted, allowing maintenance to be planned proactively rather than reactively. This structured approach helps extend the life of surfaces, reduce long‑term costs, and minimise disruption, while ensuring properties remain safe, protected, and well presented year‑round.

What are Intumescent coatings

Intumescent coatings are specialised passive fire protection coatings applied to structural steel and other substrates to help protect them in the event of a fire. When exposed to high temperatures, the coating reacts by expanding (intumescing) and forming an insulating char layer.

This expanded layer slows the transfer of heat to the steel, helping it maintain its structural strength for a specified period — typically between 30 minutes and several hours, depending on the system used. This additional time is critical for safe evacuation and emergency response.

Intumescent coatings are commonly used in commercial, industrial, and multi‑use buildings and are available in thin‑film (architectural) and thick‑film (industrial) systems to suit different environments, durability requirements, and aesthetic needs.

How can i get a quote?

Getting a quote from JMA Group Services is simple. You can contact us via phone, email, or our website enquiry form, and one of our team members will be in touch to discuss your project requirements.

For most commercial, residential, and maintenance projects, we’ll arrange a site visit or review plans and specifications to accurately assess scope, access, surface conditions, and timelines. This allows us to provide a transparent, detailed, and competitive quote aligned with your needs.

Once assessed, we’ll supply a clear quotation and are happy to discuss options, specifications, or staging of works to ensure the best outcome for your project.
